ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER

Position Purpose: Motivated, organized, hard-working professional sought as a key member of the City’s management team.  Performs highly responsible administrative work related to a wide range of municipal functions, under general direction of the City Manager and Deputy City Manager in a full-service City.

Experience Required:  Master's Degree in Public Administration or equivalent is required, and three to five years experience working in a City Manager or equivalent career track, demonstrating increasingly varied and complex responsibilities and duties in local government.

CUSTODIAN                    (Regular Part-Time – Partial Benefits)                   
Starting Salary: $12.47/hr

Experience Required: High school graduate or equivalent. Provide overall custodial work to ensure appearance and integrity of buildings; knowledge of general cleaning methods and building maintenance techniques and materials; operate equipment; follow procedures related to safety and follow oral and written instructions; minor maintenance, primarily cleaning. Valid driver’s license. Some outside work. 20 hours per week.

                                       Sunday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.    Monday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.    Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

                                              FLINT HILLS DISCOVERY CENTER 

VISITOR SERVICES/STORE ATTENDANT            (Regular Part-Time)    
Starting Rate $9.54/hr.

Provide friendly and professional customer service; answer guest questions; answer telephone; receipt money for admission and program fees; key in registration data; maintain appearance of store and assist with inventory; interface with a large variety of people.  Computer use to include sales, registrations (RecTrac), and data entry.  Basic accounting procedures and excellent communication skills.  Assist with event set-up to include moving tables and chairs. Valid driver’s license required. Partial benefits.

Temporary / Seasonal Positions (Non-benefit eligible)

FIRE HYDRANT MAINTENANCE  (Seasonal Full-Time)     
Starting: $9.50 to $10.50 / hr DOQ

Position Purpose:  To contribute to the public health and fire protection by ensuring that all City water hydrants are clear of obstructions and flowing properly with adequate and appropriate water volume. In addition to this maintenance, the incumbent also maintains a database identifying flow pressures and locations of the City’s hydrants.

Requirements:  Must be at least 18 years of age, possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Starting Salary: $9.50         

                                                    Horticulture, Parks, Forestry, Cemetery – Spring and Summer

Experience Required: Knowledge of basic maintenance activities; ability to read and comprehend written material.

Position Purpose: Provides labor, operates machinery and various equipment.  Assists in routine construction, maintenance, and some special event set-up activities; landscaping, turf, and irrigation maintenance; various other duties as required.  Work duties are variable depending upon the work group.

Special Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age; must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be able to operate riding mowers and physically operate gas powered landscaping equipment. 

                                             40 Hour Per Week - Summer Seasonal Employment, (non-benefit eligible)

Spring/Summer Seasonal – Recreational/Seasonal Positions
Starting Salaries: $7.25/hr to $25.00/game, pending position & qualifications

Position Listing: Umpires, referees, instructors and program supervisors for various sports programs (baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc); ball field maintenance; and pool employees.

Special Requirements: Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. Prior seasonal employees are encouraged to re-apply. Seasonal positions are non-benefit eligible.
