MAINTENANCE WORKER I            (Regular Full-Time) 
Starting Salary: $13.41/hr

Assist the Parks Maintenance work groups in key objectives by providing labor and operating various tools, machinery and equipment; wide variety of parks maintenance activities and grounds and facilities maintenance. Knowledge of types and uses of common hand tools; general understanding of turf and landscape maintenance practices. Willing and able to perform manual labor for extended periods of time, work outdoors in all weather and perform routine repetitive tasks is essential.

Applicants should possess mathematical skills and oral communication skills commensurate to complete basic reports, read plans and directions, and communicate with management, coworkers and citizens. Position supports quality experiences for park patrons to include interaction with the public. Requires valid driver's license.

Starting Salary: $11.32/hr

Position Purpose:  Provides positive customer service by answering phone, providing accurate information, performing data entry and receipting money. Types, keeps files and professionally assists public. Applicants should have proven skills in multitasking and working in a fast-paced office environment.

(Temporary position expected to last approximately 18-20 months)

Experience Required: High School diploma or equivalent required. Prefer vocational/business school training with courses in office technology and computer software applications, such as Word, Excel, AS/400 or program registration software. One year professional experience in customer service or related field; equivalent education may be substituted for work experience.

Starting Salary: $15.12/hr

Position Purpose: Contributes to public health and sanitation by installing and maintaining potable water distribution system to include taps and hookups; and/or management and maintenance of the sanitary sewer collection system; participate in winter snow removal activities.

Experience Required: High School graduate or equivalent, plus experience in utility maintenance or construction. Work in all weather conditions.

Special Requirement: Must have/maintain a valid driver's license, and must have or obtain a valid Kansas CDL license within 90 days of employment. Must be able to comply with the department/work group residency requirement of living within a 25-mile radius of the shop.

Temporary / Seasonal Positions (Non-benefit eligible)

Teach 2-D, 3-D and Home School Art. Must be able to use and instruct wheel throwing pottery as well as run kiln. Must be available to work Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Monday through Thursday evenings. Starts Sept. 2.

ART INSTRUCTOR: Assist Lead Art Instructor with adult and youth art and pottery classes. Evenings. Starts Sept. 2.

PRESCHOOL INSTRUCTOR: Must be available Monday through Friday mornings and Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Work with Lead Instructor in preschool class. Starts Sept. 2.

Starting Wage: $8.75/hr.
Approximately 3:45-5:15 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays

Z.O.O. CREW SUPERVISOR - SUNSET ZOO                                    
Starting Salary: $7.25/hr

Position Responsibilities: Supervise high school and middle school volunteers who will be caring for the education animal collection at Sunset Zoo as well as for other assigned projects. Perform maintenance on and provide instruction in the use of equipment and supplies; good communication skills and background knowledge of zoos, animals and conservation is vital. 

Experience Required: High school graduate or equivalent; excellent supervisory skills, experience working with youth, and animal knowledge vital. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to work Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

Spring/Summer Seasonal – Recreational/Seasonal Positions
Starting Salaries: $7.25/hr to $25.00/game, pending position & qualifications

Position Listing: Umpires, referees, instructors and program supervisors for various sports programs (baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc); and ballfield maintenance.

Special Requirements: Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. Prior seasonal employees are encouraged to re-apply. Seasonal positions are non-benefit eligible.
