The 2010 U.S. Census shows Manhattan's population to be 52,281, which is a 16.6% increase from the 2000 Census count of 44,831. The Census Bureau's 2017 estimate for Manhattan's population is 54,832. These figures include both the student population from Kansas State University as well as Fort Riley soldiers and their families residing in Manhattan. Other sources for up-to-date demographic data is the Census Bureau's American Community Survey and American Fact Finder which collects population and housing information every year.
