COVID-19 Information
The safety of our staff and citizens is our top priority. If you are sick, please stay home and contact the court for information about your case.
Remote payments for fines and fees are recommended if a court appearance is not required. Payments may be made on-line at https://municipalonlinepayments.com/manhattanks, through the mail at 610 Colorado Street, Manhattan, KS 66502, or by phone 866-301-6054 ($2.50 transaction fee applies). You may also place payments and court documents in the drop box located outside our entrance doors. You may email us at court@cityofmhk.com or call us at 785-587-2450 with questions.
Courtroom seating has been modified to allow for adequate social distancing, so you may be asked to wait outside or in your vehicle until called or texted. The use of a face covering is required per City Ordinance 7488. If you do not have a face covering, one will be provided to you. Since seating is limited, we ask that only defendants and attorneys appear. If you must bring children into the courtroom, please make sure they remain by your side. If you are unable to do this, you may be asked to wait outside or in your vehicle until called or texted to return to the courtroom.
Municipal Court has jurisdiction of certain offenses committed within Manhattan city limits, including traffic infractions; misdemeanor traffic and criminal offenses, including DUI; parking violations; and all violations of city ordinances related to zoning, building codes and more.
Municipal Court handles approximately 10,000 cases each year, plus approximately 15,000 parking violations. Municipal Court cases are appealed to the District Court, and city prosecutors represent the city on appeal.
