Volunteer

The T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter welcomes volunteers as an integral part of our team. We depend on our volunteers to help us keep our animals happy and healthy! Volunteers work on socializing the animals, giving them the daily exercise they need, brushing and bathing them, working on basic training, and doing visitations with the public.

Volunteers

Our volunteers help with many other tasks that improve the quality of life of animals in our care. In addition to these tasks, volunteers have an opportunity to advocate for the animals, educate the public, and promote adoption. If you love animals and want to become involved in your community in a meaningful way, please consider joining our team and making a difference!

For more information or if you have questions, please contact the Animal Shelter at (785) 587-2783 or email us.

Fosters

Fostering plays a crucial role at the T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter for both medical and behavioral reasons. By using foster homes for animals with medical and behavioral needs, the shelter can provide individualized care, reduce stress, and increase the chances of successful rehabilitation and adoption. Foster families play a vital role in nurturing and preparing these animals for their forever homes.

Foster parents must be at least 18 years old and must pass a background check. Please complete the Foster Application if you would like to become a pet foster!
