Structure Fire at 610 Vattier Street

(Manhattan, Kan., May 30, 2019) — At 2:34 p.m., the Manhattan Fire Department was dispatched to 610 Vattier Street for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found a two-story duplex with smoke showing. Crews conducted a search and removed two dogs from the second-floor apartment.  All other occupants had exited the structure prior to fire department arrival.  The fire reached a second alarm before it was contained within 20 minutes. A total of 17 firefighters responded on 6 fire apparatus with the last units still on scene at the time of this release. No injuries were reported. 
 
The building is a two-story duplex. Loss is estimated at $80,000 to the structure and $50,000 for the contents. The owner is listed as DIH LLC of Prarie Village, with the resident agent listed as JEKK Registered Agents LLC, of Leawood  The fire cause is accidental originating inside of a clothes dryer.
