8/21/20 Sink Hole - Leavenworth & Third

sinkhole 8-21-20

Leavenworth Street at Third (3rd) Street is closed from the westbound left turn lane to south bound 3rd Street (Shown in Red on the Map). All other movements are open at this intersection.

City Crews are investigating a possible sink hole related to storm sewer joint failure. The size of the work zone may increase and more lane closures may be required depending up the amount damage and loss of subgrade in this area.

Crews will begin removing pavement mid-to-late next week once 811 utility locates have been completed by private companies. The length of time for this repair is unknown until more pavement is removed to understand the scope of the work necessary and the options available to repair the storm sewer pipe.
