Manhattan's Crossroads MHK initiative to develop a City-wide strategic plan prioritizing City services, programs, projects and future investments, is well underway. Recently, we published the first draft of a document with wide-ranging data and insight about Manhattan that you may have never known. The environmental scan document is an analysis of relevant existing conditions and trends in the community, as well as an internal review of the City organization. This document is a resource to help the planning team develop the strategic plan.

Click here to read the environmental scan document, and post any ideas, comments or questions you have about this community information on the project website!

You told the city which way to go!
During the first round of public engagement from from March 22-April 11, there were over 1,000 participants from various virtual and online activities. During the Tuesday, April 20 City Commission meeting, there will be a presentation from the planning consultants about results from the first round of public engagement and a reveal of some themes generated from all input in order begin generating the plan elements. Tune in to the meeting to see which way you told the city to go!

Second round of public engagement this May!
During the weeks of May 3 through May 14, there will be new opportunities for the public to provide input on the strategic planning process, including new online activities on the project website to take at you own pace.

Save the date! Thursday, May 6 CrossroadsMHK will be out and about the community asking you for feedback on draft elements of the strategic plan:

  • May 6, 4:30-6pm Manhappy Hour Downtown throughout the various outdoor dinning platforms on Poyntz Avenue. Join us for a drink or app and tell us your thoughts!
  • May 6, 7-9pm at the Wefald Pavillion. Come down to City Park for some ice cream and treats and provide your feedback on the draft elemetns of the strategic plan.

More information will be available on the project website - - in the coming weeks. We hope you meet us at the crossroad!
