Due to precautions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, this meeting will be held via video conference with Board members and staff participating remotely. Public comment during the meeting will not be permitted during this time, per Resolution No. 080420-A passed by the City Commission. However, written public comment on agenda items may be submitted to the staff liaison, Tammy Galvan, prior to the meeting at galvan@cityofmhk.com or 785-587-2444. Public comments must be submitted by 3:00 pm on October 19, 2020, in order to be communicated to the Board during the meeting for their consideration.

The purpose of the Discussion/Briefing Session is for the Commission to discuss issues of a general nature, report on meetings attended, and coordinate calendars and scheduling. In addition, the Sessions are an opportunity for City Administration to distribute to the Commission any new relative background material or new information received regarding that evening’s agenda items.

The governing and legislative body of the city is the City Commission, comprised of five commissioners who are elected at-large on a non-partisan basis. The commission determines all matters of policy and approves all city ordinances and resolutions, as well as adopts the annual city budget.
